Premium & white glove
Premium removals in London
White glove is a phrase every removals firm uses and almost none define. Here is precisely what it means on our jobs — and, just as usefully, what it does not.
What it includes
- A full pack by our own crew, working room by room in the order the load will leave
- Individual casing for artwork, mirrors, glass and anything framed — not blanket-wrapped and hoped for
- Cabinetry, bed frames and dining tables dismantled by hand and rebuilt by the same hands
- Floor, doorframe and banister protection fitted at both ends before the first carry
- A written inventory detailed enough to settle any later question about what arrived in what condition
- Unpacking to a level you choose — everything out and placed, or boxes opened and left
What it does not
- House clearance or waste carriage. Different trade, different licence, and we will say so rather than improvise.
- Gas, plumbing and hard-wired appliance disconnection. That needs a qualified engineer; we plan the day around their visit.
- Vehicles. A car belongs on a transporter, not in the back of a removals lorry.
- Specialist instrument work beyond an upright piano. Where a grand or a genuinely rare instrument is involved we will point you at a specialist rather than learn on it.
A premium service that quietly includes things it cannot really do is not a premium service. These four are outside our trade and we would rather you knew now.
What warrants the treatment
Six classes of thing where ordinary careful handling is not enough, and what we actually do differently for each.
- Art and framed work
- Cased individually with corner protection and a rigid face, carried flat or on edge according to the piece, and never stacked against anything with a hard corner.
- Mirrors and glass
- The same casing method. Large mirrors that were fitted in place rather than carried in are flagged at survey, because some of them genuinely cannot come out intact.
- Antique and fitted cabinetry
- Dismantled at the joints it was designed to come apart at, and nowhere else. Where a piece has no such joint it travels whole, which changes the vehicle and the crew rather than the piece.
- Wine
- Kept upright, insulated from temperature swings, and moved early in the day rather than left on a vehicle in the sun. A serious cellar wants discussing at survey; a case or two does not.
- Upright pianos
- Moved by a crew with the right equipment and the right number of people. Grands and rare instruments go to a specialist — elsewhere in our network heavyremovals.uk carries that work.
- Rugs and textiles
- Rolled rather than folded, wrapped against dust and damp, and kept off the floor of the vehicle.
Premium removals — common questions
Are you the best removals company in London?
We are not going to claim that, because it is not a claim anyone can substantiate and every firm makes it. What we can do is describe exactly how we work — the survey, the wrapping, the access planning, the single crew — and let you compare that against what else you are quoted. If another firm is doing the same things and doing them cheaper, take it.
What does premium actually change?
The depth of packing, the casing used on fragile and framed items, the amount of hand-dismantling, the detail in the inventory, and the crew size relative to the volume. It does not change the wrapping standard on ordinary furniture — that is the same on every job we do.
Do I need it?
Often not. A straightforward flat of modern furniture does not need art casing and hand-dismantled cabinetry. We will tell you when the standard service is the right answer, because overselling you a level you do not need is a poor way to earn a recommendation.
Can I have part of it?
Yes, and most people do — full packing for the kitchen and the glass, casing for the pictures, standard handling for everything else. The quote sets out which items get which treatment.
Is everything insured?
Cover is in place and its terms are set out in your quotation — what is covered, the limits, and the exclusions. Tell us about anything of unusual value before the move so it is properly accounted for rather than discovered afterwards.
Something that warrants the care?
Tell us what it is and where it is going. We will arrange a survey and set out exactly which items get which treatment.
