Quality Removals London

Storage between moves

Storage in London

Not a unit you rent and fill yourself. Containerised storage that we pack, list and seal — for the gap between two dates, a renovation, or a household put away while you are elsewhere.

Two different things called storage

London has a great deal of self-storage, and it is a good product. It is simply not this one, and the difference matters when you are comparing quotes.

Containerised storage — what we do

  • We pack it, using the same materials and the same wrapping standard as a move
  • Every item is listed on the way in, so you can find one thing later without opening everything
  • It goes into a sealed container that is yours alone, not a shared floor
  • We load the container in a useful order — what you want first goes in last
  • We deliver it out to the new property and set it down, rather than handing you a key and a trolley

Self-storage — what we do not

  • You hire a unit and move your own things into it, usually twice
  • Nothing is inventoried unless you do it yourself
  • Access is the selling point — which is genuinely useful if you need to visit it weekly
  • Packing quality is whatever you had time for on the day
  • You move it out again yourself when the time comes

If regular access is what you actually need, a self-storage unit is the better product and we will tell you so rather than sell you ours.

When people use it

A broken or delayed chain
Much the commonest reason. Completion slips, the load has nowhere to go, and a container bridges the gap without anybody sleeping among boxes.
Renovation
Part of the house goes into storage while the work runs. We take what is going and leave what stays, which is easier to organise from an inventory than from memory.
Downsizing
The things you are not ready to decide about yet. No judgement — that decision is genuinely easier made later than under time pressure on moving day.
Business records and spare furniture
Where an inventory matters far more than it does for a household. Archives are boxed, sealed and logged with a chain of custody.
Time abroad
A household put away while you are out of the country, then delivered back out when you return. Worth telling us how it will be packed differently if it will sit for a long stretch.

Storage — common questions

Is this self-storage?

No, and we would rather be clear about it. Self-storage is a unit you rent and load yourself, and it is the right answer if you need to visit your things regularly. What we do is containerised storage between moves: we pack it, inventory it, seal it and deliver it out.

Can I get at my things while they are stored?

With notice, yes — but it involves opening a sealed container, so it is not a weekly arrangement. If you know you will need frequent access, a self-storage unit genuinely suits you better and we will say so.

How long can it stay?

As long as you need. Charges run per storage period and are set out in your quotation. Tell us roughly how long and whether you expect to need access, because both change how the container is packed.

What cannot go in?

Anything flammable, pressurised or perishable, plants, and anything liable to attract vermin. Jewellery, documents of value and currency should stay with you rather than in any storage arrangement.

Do you store artwork and wine?

Both, with the handling described on our premium page — but tell us at survey, because a serious collection may want conditions that a general container cannot offer, and we will say so rather than take it and hope.

Is it insured?

Cover is in place for goods in storage and the terms are set out in your quotation. Read the limits before you commit, and flag anything of unusual value so it is properly accounted for.

Need somewhere for it to wait?

Tell us roughly what is going in and how long you expect it to be. We will quote the move and the storage together.
